Key Players To Watch In The 2017-18 NBA Season

The 2017-18 NBA season starts in just 3 days!

There is so much excitement this year because of all the raw, young talent that has entered the league following the most anticipated 2017 NBA Draft back in June.

In this little article, I will list some of these young potentials stars that you should watch as the season unfolds.

We all know that Markelle Fultz was the #1 pick of the Philadelphia 76ers and Lonzo Ball was the #2 pick of the Los Angeles Lakers.

But let’s talk a little bit about the other young players that were taken in the 2017 Draft as well.

The #3 pick went to the Boston Celtics and they picked Jayson Tatum out of Duke. Keep an eye on this young stud. He could even surpass Ball and Fultz in the years to come.

Below are other players to keep your eyes on during the 2017-18 NBA season.

De’Aaron Fox. The Sacramento Kings had the #5 pick and they took Fox out of Kentucky. It will be fun watching De’Aaron Fox and Lonzo Ball match up against each other for years to come as both play in the same division.

Below is the list of potential NBA star players that I will be watching closely in the 2017-18 NBA season.

Josh Jackson-Phoenix Suns.

Dennis Smith, Jr.-Dallas Mavericks.

Kyle Kuzma-Los Angeles Lakers. This kid has already impressed in the preseason for the Lakers.

Malik Monk-Charlotte Hornets.

Justin Jackson-Sacramento Kings.

Frank Mason-Sacramento Kings.

Zach Collins-Portland Trail Blazers.

Jonathan Isaac-Orlando Magic.

Which players will you be watching with an eagle eye in 17-18? Add them in the comments below if you’d like to.

As a footnote, I would also like to add a few other players that are entering their 2nd or third year in the league that I also will be watching like a hawk this season. You can see them below.

Ben Simmons-Philadelphia 76ers. Okay, this one is pretty obvious because we all want to know just how good Ben Simmons will be.

The #1 pick of the 2016 NBA Draft was robbed of his rookie season because of an injury. Hopefully he can stay healthy all season and showcase his talent. Ben Simmons has been really good in the preseason as he scored 19 points the other night.

Brandon Ingram-Los Angeles Lakers. Ingram is entering his second NBA season in 2017-18 and Lakers’ fans are expecting a major improvement from this young guy.

And it just may happen for Ingram because he now has a future NBA star in Lonzo Ball to set him up at the rim for some easy baskets.

Joel Embiid-Philadelphia 76ers. Will this be the year that Joel Embiid can finally stay healthy and play a full season? Sixers fans sure hope so.

Jaylen Brown-Boston Celtics. Brown is another possible rising star for the Celtics as he enters his second year.

Thon Maker-Milwaukee Bucks.

Jamal Murray-Denver Nuggets.

Tyler Ulis-Phoenix Suns.

Buddy Hield-Sacramento Kings. Buddy Hield came over to Sacramento as part of the DeMarcus Cousins trade to the New Orleans Pelicans. Hield shown flashes of being a solid NBA player in 16-17.

Brice Johnson-Los Angeles Clippers.

Skal Labissière-Sacramento Kings.

Dejounte Murray-San Antonio Spurs.

Kris Dunn-Chicago Bulls.

It will be fun to look back at this post in a few years to see which players have gone on to be stars as well as players that have faded out.

One thing for sure, there is a lot of solid, young talent in the NBA as we enter the 2017-18 season and that’s a good thing!

This Kings Fan Is Glad DeMarcus Cousins Is Gone From Sacramento

I Am Happy With The DeMarcus Cousins Trade To New Orleans

On Sunday night after the All-Star game, Sacramento Kings‘ DeMarcus Cousins was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans for Buddy Hield, Langston Galloway, Tyreke Evans and some future draft picks.

Almost immediately, the national media began torching the Kings for the trade and it has not stopped yet here on Tuesday morning.

I am watching Skip and Shannon on FOX1’s Undisputed right now and they are still torching the Kings for basically giving away DeMarcus Cousins.

It pains me to see my Kings getting laughed at nationwide. I was born in Sacramento and have been a Kings’ fan ever since they moved to Sacramento from Kansas City back in 1985.

I will never forget it. I was a teenager back in 1985 when businessman Greg Lukenbill brought the Kings to Sac-Town. Like the team of today, That first Kings team back in 1985 was god-awful.

But you know what? We Sacramentans didn’t care because they were OUR team! They had players like Terry Tyler, LaSalle Thompson, Larry Drew, Reggie Theus, Mike Woodson and Otis Thorpe.

Then, in 1998, the good times started to roll for us Sacramento fans. We put together a great group of players. We had Chris Webber, Mike Bibby, Vlade Divac, Peja Stojokovic and a young, flashy point-guard named Jason Williams.

Now we fast-forward to today’s team. The Kings are horrible again. I will agree with the national media when they say that this Kings’ management has been a joke and a laughing-stalk for the way they have handled their draft picks.

CASE IN POINT: See Isaiah Thomas.

But after saying all of this, I am glad they have shipped DeMarcus Cousins out of town. It was time to move on. Yeah I know they could have maybe gotten more in return for Cousins but now they can start fresh again.

Yesterday I was listening to Kings’ announcer Grant Napier’s radio show on KHTK 1140 and he had some great points. Grant said he was glad Cousins is gone and now the Kings have their franchise back.

Grant also said he will be glad to call a game where he won’t have to see DeMarcus Cousins whine about every bad call he gets from the referees.

Look, as a Kings’ fan, I loved DeMarcus Cousins as a player. He has done a lot of great things for our Sacramento community. He will be missed in that aspect.

The only thing that bothered me and other Kings; fans about Boogie is the fact that he was a hot-head and could not control his anger on the court.

He has been in the NBA for 7 years now and still goes off on referees and is leading the league in technical fouls this season.

Now Cousins begins his time in New Orleans for the Pelicans. I hope the best for him, I really do. He will team up with Anthony Davis now and they will be hard to stop in the paint.

And you know what? If the New Orleans Pelicans go on and become a major force in the NBA, I will still agree with Vlade Divac’s decision to get DeMarcus Cousins out of town.

So let Stephen A. Smith, Max Kellerman, Shannon Sharpe and old-man Skip Bayless laugh at us, I don’t care.

To repeat what Grant Napier said on his Twitter account, “The Kings now have their franchise back!”.

It was time for DeMarcus Cousins to get out of Sacramento.

The Sacramento Kings Just Lost To The 76ers

The Sacramento Kings Just Lost To The Horrible 76ers…At Home!

Got home from work just in time to see the final minutes of the Kings-76ers game tonight on NBA TV.

As a Kings fan from Sacramento, it is hard for me to say this next sentence. The Sacramento Kings just lost to the horrible, putrid Philadelphia 76ers by the score of 110-105!! The Kings missed something like 17 free throws. Simply embarrassing!

Not only did the Kings lose, they lost on their home floor of Sleep Train Arena.

What is wrong with Sacramento? They have so much good talent and are lead by the best big man in the NBA, Demarcus Cousins.

Why can’t this freakin team ever win at a regular basis?! They have a solid point guard in Rajon Rondo and they are coached by one of the best coaches in the NBA in George Karl.

Maybe it is time to just blow this team up, except Cousins. I echo what Kings’ TV announcer Grant Napear said on tonight’s broadcast. He said that losing to the crappy 76ers is the lowest of the lowest so far this season.

With their win tonight, the horrible 76ers moved to 3-31 on the season. I can’t believe I just typed that win loss record. 3 and 31!! Unbelievable how you can lose AT HOME to garbage team like that.

The Kings dropped to 12-20 on the season.
